A long-expected update to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will go into effect on Dec. 1, raising the annual minimum for overtime-exempt, salaried employees. This change to the federal overtime rules means that employers must choose between paying salaried workers overtime or making sure they don’t work beyond 40 hours a week.
